Gutter Cleaning

Gutter Cleaning

Gutters are an integral piece of your home’s well being. They serve to control the flow of rainwater to protect your roof, walls, foundation and landscape. But when not properly cleaned, gutters can turn from a necessity to a nightmare. A gutter clogged with leaves, sticks and other debris can cause multitudes of problems from a leaky roof or water damage to the interior or exterior of your home. Clogged-up gutters also make great homes for pests, rodents, mold and insect infestations.

How often should my gutters be cleaned?

We recommend cleaning your gutters at least twice a year– once in the late spring and once in the late summer/early fall. But there are a few factors that might make you reconsider. If you have pine trees growing above your house, consider inspecting your gutters every 3 months.  It's also important to clean out the downspouts, something that many homeowners often forget causing water to back up and potential damaging the exterior or interior of a home.

I have a lot of trees, what can I do?

Leaf guards significantly decrease the need for gutter maintenance, but they don’t eliminate it. Leaf screens can clog as well and maintenance will depend on the quality of the cover and the type/amount of trees you have. Visual checks are important . For instance, insects may still manage to find their way in.

Can't I clean them myself?

Most homeowners attempt to do this themselves but, it can be dangerous work. There are literally 100,000s of emergency room accidents every year from climbing ladders alone. Dan Dan the Gutter Man also does a visual check as we clean your gutters!
